Love,
Cyril 9/1/2008 Work & Training...At the turn of August, I received lots of head-ups regarding the upcoming training courses in September. Last week we have just finished the project management training which frankly was still very difficult for me. It was not merely about how to plan, prepare and carry out a project, but also including lots of subjects such as working out a report and foreseeing the following consequences, and additionally coming out the apporach to tackle when there was a problem. Lastly evaluating the whole process after a project was implemented. I initially decided not to talk at all we however were requested to make a presentation after every section during a day. Although the individual performance was not scored but I still felt god-damn nervous because what I was presenting to was not my teammates - they were really somebody from the management level. Thank you Amy Ding, Hans Yang and Magic Wu who were in my group giving me confidences to successfully lecture during the last day. Throughout week 37 (Sep.8-12) I will attend another training called DGM - Dangerous Goods Management, with my manager. I am wondering why it has to take a week long. Hopefully it is not as tough as last training otherwise I have to challenge myself again!!! ><" Wish me good luck bah. Below is a picture that we took after the project training. Some of you might be curious why I could wear Tee in the office. Tell you, it was Friday and the trainer himself wore the same casual Tee as well. Dont judge me in a boss' fashion, please!
![]() I never like the other month as much as September. Na zeh? Because it represents the early fall of a year, meaning that we are going to get rid of the hot and humid summer times. And traditional Moon Festival happens to be always in this month so there will be lots of family and company gatherings - my favorite part. Whats more, it is the month that someone was born... La la la...Thanks mom for bringing me onto this planet yah... I could never express my gratitude enough!!!
My current agenda between work and life, Sep.3 FESCO Moon Festival Party Sep.8-12 DGM Training with boss Sep.14 Lunar Birthday, may be celebrated with David's Sep.15 Family Moon Festival Gathering - Dad will be back in town. Sep.16 Public holiday, may eat out with my dept crew. Sep.20 Moon Festival Party with our agents .... 8/24/2008 四人游Khalil: Hey! Fiona: Hey!!
Fiona: ...I havent seen you for a long time. Khalil: Yeah, its been a long time... Fiona: Yeah, its been a long while... Khalil: How are you doing? Fiona: I am doing fine, yeah. Khalil: So you are looking great now... Fiona: Well, you look good too... Fiona: So, so your still with her? Khalil: Yeah, I am still with her... Fiona: Thats good, thats fun, I like her yeah... Fiona: Happy to see you... Khalil: Good to see you too... Quite an ironic verbal beginning of the captioned song. The parted couple bumped into each other with their own new "significant other" in the street. Lots of promises, commitment they made when they were passionately in love...Nobody is to blame. To change is man. 8/2/2008 Thailand II - All MeSome photoes of me in Thailand - Should you are interested in viewing them in bigger size, please refer to my facebook account via following hyperlink: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=27827&l=480b3&id=614594117 A lot more there! I filled this entry with only photoes since I was really too busy!!!! 7/18/2008 Thailand Trip IActually this entry should have been finished last week...Sorry I was too lazy and at last I didnt close it withy full stop...=P
^When the birdview of Gohlongsoo and main island of Xiamen greeted my eyes I realized that I have been back to town again, Haha. Ta Da Yi Ma.. Ling was sitting besides me trying to keep me alert but what I really wanted was to have a long sound sleep after it touched down...We got well sun-tanned and we were really short of enough sleep le...We have already finished our first journey abroad, though we fought with each other for a couple of times it was still memorable and worth putting down on my blog today.(Jul.11)
**Phuket
Have heard a lot about this town it however was not as what we anticipated. Patong was the place where we stayed for the first day. You might dig on it if you preferred night life with pubs, bars, and clubbing activities. Lots of caucasions there spent their vacations for almost 2-3 months so house and vehicles renting agencies could be found everywhere. Ling has suggested that we rented a motorbike many a time because it seemed more convenient to go to other beautiful beaches like Karon and Kata. I finally agreed but I never knew that it would bring many expected troubles to us. We got cheated by a "friendly" Obahsang when we asked for the direction of gas filling station. She guided us to the beach and wanted to charge us 1000 Baht for a bucket of petrol. We rejected and decided to search by our selves. When we went back from the same street we got caught by a cop. We got fined for an amount of 300 Baht due to driving without international licence. Whats worse we had to go to their local police station to submit the fine. Oh my, the nearest one was about 2kms and I was a virgin to the police station! I sat there uncomfortably answering the questions by the chief of police, although he was kind and luckily spoken English with less strong accent. We both felt very upset and our whole day planning was utterly spoiled as well. Nevertheless, the hotel - Patong Cottage we lived in was recommendable and the best! It was located on the middle of hillside where you could have a full view of Patong town and beach plaza, and transportation about 20 mintues from hotel to the beach was provided free of charge by shuttle minibus, very efficient and considerate. People there were very nice and hospitable (in fact all Thai people were very friendly and helpful). And the breakfast was awesome!!! Papaya, pineapple, watermelon, fried eggs with hams, and the ORANGE JUICE!!! It tasted so incredibly good!
*****Phi Phi Island
We stayed in Phi Phi Banyang hotel in Krabi which was not as good as its TV commercial. Because of the tsunami lots of vegetation cover like coconuts and some other tropical grasses and trees have been destroyed. New plants already turned green but looked a little bit of weird and forced. And the swimming pool of the hotel was in maintenance, damn it. Plus, our room seemed haunted as we heard some flushing noises all night long in the bathroom, and also some running noises on the roof yet we were on the top floor already and nobody lived up there! We felt scared but at last we fell asleep due to weariness. The mosquitoes were terrible. No matther how much insect repellent we sprayed on our exposed parts of body they were still able to bite us! During our stay at Phi Phi we hired the long tailed boat snorkelling around those beautiful small islands with transparent seawaters in blue and green, and the white sandy beach. It was amazing that we saw a cluster of schooling fish was swimming back and forth or side by side with us. Could not describe how fantastic the feeling was like....We had dinners twice at the Papaya Restaurant. It was always full of people because of its cheap prices and yummy Thai food with local flavor. *****Bangkok City
There were several choices getting around Bangkok. BTS (Bangkok's Skytrain), MRT (Mass Rapid Transportation), Taxi, Tuk-Tuk and buses(dont take it as there's no bus stop directions at all)...I was really occupied by something more interesting so I decided to leave it as it is now...Some day I will continue my travel blog..Ha. Again let the picture talk themselves. 6/14/2008 Rainstorm *** YELLOW, RED Alert ***Have already passed the exam of basic driving knowlege(Step 1) last Wednesday with Haf by sheer luck. We were so nervous before the test because we did not spend too much time on preparing. Anyway, we felt so relieved when we saw our positive scores...Next we will start road driving test. Per our coach, it will be further consisting of 4 parts ? - dont have a clue actually. But it was said that a driver was required to drive a car on a designated section of a road to show whether he was qualified for road driving. The step was much harder because I didnt think I had time on frequently practising...Haiz, wish me best luck.
Our trip to Thailand was approaching. Thanks to Smile who has already booked and planned all hotels and traveling agenda for me. I didnt need to worry about anything, just to nod my head and pay. We would have our stay in Thailand for about 7 days - 3 days in Puket, 2 days in Phi Phi Island and 2 days in Bangkok. It might have some changes but I never mind. I have decided to think of nothing throughout the whole journey and enjoyed my first tour abroad =P
Some traveling memories with our air batch in Mu Yee Suah. Not a photo taken together with Haf, Cara and Michael & Fish as they were in another bamboo raft. For those who read my blog for fun --- I wont update until the mid of July when I was back from Thailand lah...Enjoy your life and see ya~
5/11/2008 我有多久没有对你说我爱你(罗文裕) 母亲节Yo~My last elder brother who was unmarried, at age 31, have finally tied the knot with a lady from An'hui in the middle of this month. The reason why I mentioned it was because that it would make me become the oldest single guy in our big family. Unfortunately my brother-in-law-to-be's family happened to officially visit my parents today - Perhaps he and my younger sister would get registered first, though they were still not able to afford a new apartment for wedding so far...After they went home, My lovely elders started to urge me in jest on getting a girl asap. Besides some silly giggles, I didnt know what to react. After twice blind dates they finely set up for me that did not work out, they seemed a little bit pushy on it. It was fortunate that my parents were not that worried and felt that it would be better for me to get married after 2 or 3 years since I would shoulder more responsibilities and commitments at that period. That might be true to some extent. There were always 3 main important concepts among traditional Chinese people, they were, successfully having a career, getting married, having and raising a child. Apparently I would never have a chance to skip the importance of marriage. However, currently it still remained the last thing I would like to spend my time on, so just kept the door closed. (To be continued...)
I was glad after giving coaching to our operational team in Fuzhou on Last Friday. I have adopted Ryan's opinions of making an outline of the whole contents and it was workable! Plus, I was not as that nervous as before. For those questions they went on and on asking I was always quick on the trigger. Perhaps it was about something during my daily working and I was familiar with, or maybe I have started to feel at home of being a trainer. As of next week I would give a weekly brief SOP go-over meeting within our department on a regular basis and I have got to prove myself qualifiable. My boss also offered his experiences for my references as well. He said that nobody was born to be a tranier. He did not speak too much as well during the training in the past, but more courses he got involved his became more and more eloquent and talktive. And one should consider what positive outcomes he would bring along after training, or his efforts were useless or just a load of crap. Though mine carried out smoothly and understandable as it appeared, it did not seem to implement in essence. Besides a well-given training I should addtionally follow up how things were going in the near future. Now I was wondering when I could totally get rid of those customer services crap and focused on further training and my supervisorship. I have worked for this company for more than 5 years and I was asked for hundreds of times why I could stay put so firmly. I told them I would not quit without at least a title of supervisor. Now I have made it but I did not consider a change. At this stage I would lead my team to the best! Maybe after that I would seek for another challenge in my career =)
4/9/2008 3 and half of a day leftBreaking news. Summer has been around the corner. Everybody lets face it.

*Uncle Chian Lee's could be regarded as the richest relatives of us. He started his career as a chauffeur in a mental hospital and he met uncle Goh who followingly introduced out his sister - my antie Shek Chin. Uncle Lee wanted a nurse to be his wife at the first stage but antie Chin who was not a nurse or an official worker at all, had a big crush on him and perhaps she made some efforts to express how she felt to Lee. And they finally made out and tied the knot, nobody however knew the real story behind. Anyway, I might have gone too far since this was not what I would like to put here....When we were very young, we two families were the closest ones. We went to lots of places together, having lots of fun...Uncle Lee has been a successful business man dealing with wholesales of cement when I started to remember things. He was kind and gernerous. (We even lived in his house for free during the decoration of our own.) Though I found sometimes that he was staring at my mother's butt, he was still very popular and respectable among our kinds.
Yet recently I I began to dislike him...He was thinking too big of himself and kind of pushy. Take the lawsuit within my mother's family as an example. He imposed his too much of own thought on us without any proof. It was about the inheritance disputes which turned out not evenly divided out because 2 of my uncles( my mother's younger brothers, gosh, could English be more specific to distinguish the differences between the relatives between father and mother's?!!) made fake evidences. Mom have had a tough time to go through since the attorney letter came but obviously it was so unfairly closed. Luckily dad fully understood and supported her. But according to conversation of the last time we were at uncle Lee's, apparently Lee was holding a totally reverse idea upon this. "You should not be so greedy to share the inheritance with your brothers. They are male and they should be the one who legally inherit NOT you. You are a family why bother to go to the court?" are his original words. He was absolutely wrong and ignorant. It was not about money at all...One of my uncles' wife could not go well along with my anties so she did a great evil deal of malicious stuffs behind, which resulted in endless quarrels and fights. I could not knew more clearly that how we helped 2 of my uncles even we were not very wealthy in the past. However, instead of being at least grateful they listened to his wives and stood againt us. At last we took actions with legal advices but we forgot that these 2 big boys were hard nuts to crack. As previously mentioned they made fake evidences and even took some FAKE witnesses before the court. It was weird that I was not that furious as before when writing this entry....Anyway, I would like to let Uncle Lee realize that he was too judgemental to make a conclusion so fast. What he needed was to keep track of the case from the very beginning. Without full knowlege of it he should not comment those words.
4/4/2008 We got Ching Ming Festival in Greater China !!I never thought that I could tide over the tough days of last week but I proved myself a luckydog again as I finally made it. Although during this period I made a stupid mistake but I have tried my best to find a solution reducing our total expense while still meeting our customer's need. I would like to express my sincere gratitudes again here to all the colleagues at origin and destination offices involved. Without you guys things could be much worse. And so lucky I was to have you as my working partners. I really appreciated it!!
Some suggestive words for some people:
1. Warehouse staffs and loading planner on the site
First of all I hoped you could watch your language. Everybody reserved his rights to be respected. You didnt really have to break into the office yelling at me for a trouble that was out of control of my team. Even it was an error made by my team, that was not the right attitude to solve the problem. You might not have a chance to read this but I still wanted to defend my team. From the every start of booking we have clearly marked on the paper and repeated that the coming cargoes would be packed in a huge wooden pallet which read as 240cm in the width. But obviously your operational staff did not inform this to you that put you completely unprepared. You might have troubles of explanation with security officer but you were not aware that because of this my cargoes had to be stayed in the bonded area B at the aircargo terminal for 24 hours waiting for an inspection. Also as a result of it the previously booked flight had to be put off and my customer had to pay some addtional local charges before his cargo moved out!! And for some dangerous goods I knew that it might not be fair for you guys to handle but that was a decision of your team. Since it was within your responsibilities why not faced to treat it seriously. As I said, it was not I who intentionally accepted the booking of dangerous goods and threw the tourble to you. Why should I?!! And it was under customs and security's regulation that each dangerous cargo would require a DGM procedure...In short, less complaints, harder work. That would be mutually beneficial to both of our team. 2. Internal teammates and outsourcing staffs
Actually we communicated everyday but there were still lots of up and downs during working. I would not demand too much from you. But DP team you really had to finish all the documentations at the end of each day. Issuing a freight invoice was as important as airwaybill. Plus you've got to send out all the pre-alerts even the shipment was effected tomorrow. I could not stressed how important this step was but you still obstinately conducted in your own ways. Dont let me catch the work undone by you after you left the office again. I well knew that since the beginning of this year airfreight shipments to North, South America, Intra Asia boomed up, our work became more difficult. But remember those days we worked overtime everday only with 3 members in the team? It was time that we presented how our team spirit worked!! Well, why I mentioned outsourcing staffs as well here? Because I was not happy with the work you were doing. Never, Never be rude to my team. Did you realize how bossy you have turned into?! We were within the same company and my team was NOT AT ALL under yours. You might be requested to do things in "that" fashion by your strict boss, but so did we. If you could not stand the pressure you should report to your direct superior. Transferring your anger to my team was not wise. Again, mutual respect was so crucial within a company. 3. My boss
You didnt recognize how crazy I was after you shifted lots of reports for me to do this year. You reviewed our work according to how many hours we worked overtime everyday, and I happened to be the type who hated overtime working. I runned and endeavored to complete every of the task before 18:00 PM. Did you know how much extra efforts I had to employ to make it happen? Lack of overtime working did not mean that we were not busy. Though I have passed some operational issues to Gateway team but I was still short of hands. To count it, I had to hand over at least 7 reports to you monthly. But did you know that for some global accounts I was also requested to submit monthly or quarterly reports to respective traffic controler? You promised to get me an intern in April but until this moment I have not yet see his coming. You always asked me if I had any problem for the work you assigned, but you never cared about the quality of the work I did. Yes I could do all the work you gave to to me but you had to allow some spare time for me to double check and make it perfect? Where did the spare time come from? You know it... Some pictures taken in the Spring Dinner in the March of this year.
